"American Hot Wax" from 1973
This is very hard to find and is the complete uncut "WIDESCREEN" version and is real nice quality. A heartfelt depiction of the birth of rock 'n' roll, American Hot Wax is the story of New York disc jockey Alan Freed, often credited with inventing the term itself. The film shows how Freed was hated by conservatives and racists for promoting black music and portrays him as the scapegoat in the 'payola' scandal, which bought him down. With performances from Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry and Screaming Jay Hawkins, along with a number of groups put together specifically for the film, it's a hugely enjoyable blast.
